“Music, as a means of communication, has no boundaries. Its power can bring people of all creeds together in peace.”-Maria Montessori   Montessori and The Kodály Method: Maria Montessori found that music plays an important role in development in three main areas: physical, intellectual, and emotional. The music program at MAC promotes all three areas. Physically, each child engages in instrument playing and movement, which encourages self-control and coordination. Intellectually, the children engage in singing and listening to music, which requires them to use their memory and stay attentive. What is art?  It is a question that is older than time itself and it offers a multitude of possible answers.  While scholars and philosophers debate and make record of their solutions to the qustion, I find the answer to be quite simple.   For me, art is an emotional evocation of the creative spirit through expermienting with the use of symbolic representation.… more >
